The anchor of the hostel. The dutiful employee to Mr. Kiraly and forever wingman to Mizan. He hosts an online web show called Chi-Town Minute! where he promotes tourism in the Midwest. While a bit of a doormat, the tide is turning.
Mizan is a friend and co-worker with Paul. While not a big traveler himself, Mizan vicariously has the experience by sleeping with as many international women as possible. The lazy worker, Mizan makes up for it with charm. He is constantly henpecked by Sabina, a constant reminder of India and strict traditional upbringings.
A bright eyed innocent backpacker from New Zealand. She is new to the world of hostels and this is her first backpacking experience. She is lead by her boyfriend, Brian, who insists on staying at luxury hotels and forgoes the whole shoestring budget idea. Joyce is naive, yet brave, and she beings to feel an attraction to Paul...
Robert Kiraly is the surly Hungarian owner of Hostel Chicago. A misanthrope through and through, Robert hates all nationalities equally, using teasing Mizan the most. Robert is a frugal owner, extremely intelligent and cultured, and can't quite grasp the concept of a hipster. He acts as the father figure to Paul and Mizan.
Sabina comes from a very affluent family in Goya, India. It's her life mission to marry Mizan and bring him back to India to unite their families to become the powerhouse of India. She is throughly convinced they were sworn to be married as children, however, Mizan seems to disagree.
